Kenyon College, a highly selective, nationally ranked liberal arts college in central Ohio, invites applications for a tenure-track position in Anthropology at the level of Assistant Professor, beginning fall semester of 2023. We seek a broadly-trained cultural anthropologist specializing in medical and/or linguistic anthropology with an excellent teaching record, an active research agenda, and a demonstrated commitment to including students in ongoing research. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong willingness to work collaboratively with colleagues in International Studies, Environmental Studies, African Diaspora Studies, Asian and Middle East Studies, or Women and Gender Studies. Geographic area is open but an Africanist or Asianist is preferred. Theoretical specialties should complement existing strengths within the Anthropology department. Individuals from underrepresented groups who can contribute to the growing diversity of our academic community, particularly through their inclusive teaching, are encouraged to apply. A complete application consists of 1) a cover letter; 2) a Curriculum Vitae; 3) a ~2-page statement of the applicant’s teaching philosophy that addresses the applicant’s experiences with and plans for teaching diverse student populations and using inclusive pedagogy; 4) an unofficial graduate transcript; and 5) Letters of Reference from three (3) recommenders.
