MIT Anthropology invites applications for a two-year teaching and research postdoctoral appointment (2023 - 2025). Theoretical and geographic specializations are open, although we seek a candidate who will complement or extend, not replicate, fields already covered by anthropology faculty at MIT. This position is made possible through the MIT School of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences (SHASS) Postdoctoral Diversity Fellowship Program, which seeks to enhance diversity in the School and in the humanities and social sciences more broadly. Applicants from among members of racial and ethnic groups that have historically been underrepresented in Anthropology and from disadvantaged backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Ph.D. in Anthropology (or allied field) is required at time of appointment.

Applicants must have received their Ph.D. no earlier than August 2019 and no later than August 2023.

The position is in person at MIT beginning August 2023. The recipient will teach three courses in Anthropology over the four semesters. In addition, the recipient is expected to maintain an independent program of research and writing and to participate in the Anthropology and SHASS intellectual community.
