Job Summary:
The University of Wisconsin-Madison seeks a tenure-track assistant professor in Biological Anthropology with research and teaching strengths that complement and extend current faculty expertise. The successful candidate will maintain an active field research program; will teach in anthropology; and will communicate scholarship effectively to broader audiences inside and outside the academy. We are especially interested in candidates whose research focuses on the ecology (e.g., diet/nutrition, disease, climate change, habitat change, etc.) of anthropoids.
Responsibilities:
o maintain an active field-based research program, preferentially focused on anthropoids
o pursue intra- and extramural funding to support your research
o develop a national and international research profile by publishing your research in reputable peer-reviewed journals, edited volumes, and books
o teach undergraduate and graduate courses in biological anthropology; the typical combined teaching load is 2-2 (two courses per semester).
o advise undergraduate and graduate students
o participate in faculty governance and other service to the department, program, university, and profession.

Ph.D. in Anthropology or closely related discipline is required at the time of appointment; area of specialization should be in ecology (e.g., diet/nutrition, disease, climate change, habitat change, etc.) of anthropoids
Qualifications:
Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
o Evidence of established scholarship in biological anthropology and primatology, with the potential for contributions of national and international significance. All candidates must have proven success in conducting research appropriate to their stage of career.
o Commitment to develop an academic program that includes a strong focus on empirical research.
o Demonstrated collaborative skills.
o Evidence of success securing competitive funding.
o Experiences or preparation related to fostering welcoming, diverse, inclusive learning environments.
o Evidence of excellence in undergraduate teaching.
