The Department of Anthropology at The University of Texas at Austin invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Evolutionary Anthropology to begin in the fall semester of the 2023-24 academic year. The successful candidate’s research interests will complement existing strengths of the UT Austin biological anthropology program, which emphasizes an evolutionary perspective, and will fit comfortably among other anthropologists in a strong, multidisciplinary, and diverse department. Applicants should have a research agenda that focuses on the evolution and adaptations of fossil hominins and/or living humans. Preferred areas of specialization include (but are not strictly limited to): hominin evolution and modern human origins; innovative applications of ancient DNA; evolutionary energetics and physiology; anthropological genetics, genomics, and epigenetics; and adaptations to climate and disease.

The successful candidate will be expected to develop an active program of research, demonstrate evidence of successful research productivity, teach both undergraduate and graduate courses, direct graduate research, and engage in service to the department, college, and university.
