Tenure-Track Professor in Archaeology

Position Description: The Department of Anthropology at Harvard University invites applications for a Tenure Track professor from candidates with expertise in any of the following fields: the Archaeology of Hunter / Forager / Herding groups, Early Agriculture and Village Society, Paleolithic / Stone Age / Pleistocene Archaeology, OR related topics. We seek a candidate with expertise in the conceptual and theoretical concerns related to these themes. We seek candidates who have active field or lab projects and have one or more methodological strengths (examples include but are not limited to: zooarchaeology, lithic analysis, geoarchaeology, environmental archaeology, archaeological statistics, archaeobotany, etc.) complementary to existing department strengths. Candidates are expected to be able to offer introductory as well as advanced courses to undergraduates and graduate students. The appointment is expected to begin on July 1, 2023, and a PhD is required by the start date.

Basic Qualifications: Doctorate or terminal degree in Archaeology, Anthropology or related discipline required by the time the appointment begins.

 

 

 

Additional Qualifications: Demonstrated strong commitment to teaching and advising is desired.
