Professor or Associate Professor of Anthropology - USC
Posted: November 18, 2019

The Department of Anthropology in the Dana and David Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles invites applications for the position of Professor or Associate Professor of Anthropology with a specialization in medical anthropology, broadly conceived.

Candidates should have a PhD in Anthropology and should have a stellar record of research, publication and teaching. The successful candidate will play a leading role in developing a graduate program in anthropology that will involve training in ethnographic methods, anthropological theory, and creative approaches to problems of health and well-being in an interconnected world. Possible areas of interest include health in cities and changing environments, real life bioethics and the ethics of care, health inequities, activism and community response, mental health and disability, migration, global health and international aid, war and violence, emerging sciences/technologies, medical pluralism and the remaking of traditions, and the engagement of medicine with media and arts. While the topical and geographic area of specialization is open, we are particularly interested in candidates who can bridge to other departments and units on campus.

In addition to the letter of application, interested candidates should provide a statement of research and teaching interests and their curriculum vitae as well as names of three referees. In order to be considered for this position, all candidates must apply via the "Apply" link at the top or bottom of this page. Applications will be considered beginning on January 10, 2020 and will remain open to new applicants until the position has been filled.
