Job Details

The Anthropology Department at the University of Maryland invites applications for a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer, who will also serve as Assistant Director of the Cultural and Heritage Resource Management Graduate Program (http://chrm.umd.edu). The CHRM Program is a fully online distance-learning graduate program for professionals in cultural resources management, so duties for the position may be performed remotely. The CHRM Program offers a master’s degree and graduate certificate in Cultural and Heritage Resource Management, and is developing a graduate certificate and master’s track in GIS for CRM.  The Assistant Director will work collaboratively with the Executive Director to help administer and implement aspects of the program, including student advising, thesis supervision, curriculum development, admissions, and recruitment. The Assistant Director will also teach 3-4 online courses per year in the program. Depending on the Assistant Director’s expertise and needs of the program, these will include a methods course, courses to support the new GIS track and certificate, and/or the thesis course (ANTH 799). This is a 12-month non-tenure track faculty position at 0.5 FTE with an anticipated start date of May 16, 2022. Salary range is $35,000-$40,000 at 0.5 FTE. Initial appointment will be for one year with renewal subject to review of candidate’s performance and available budgetary resources.

Minimum Qualifications:

PhD in Anthropology or related field

Teaching experience that demonstrates inclusive practices

Substantive professional work history in cultural resources management

Preferred Qualifications:

Technical mastery of GIS

Administrative or senior management experience

Online teaching and/or course design experience
