ERM is seeking an experienced consulting Cultural Resources Manager with consulting experience to play a key role in implementing our existing programs in Southern California. The ideal candidate will have served as a senior leader and a track record of high quality outputs, team building and excellent client communication skills and responsiveness. The role will be predominantly remote with minimal field work. This is a fixed-term, field-based position.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide leadership and technical consulting skills to support the growth of ERM's cultural resources team in Southern California (under existing contracts).
  • Oversee field studies and manage subcontractors.
  • Communicate regularly with clients via email and phone conferences.
  • Represent ERM in client meetings.
  • Oversee fulfillment of compliance requirements of programmatic permits and memorandums issued by the National Forest Services, Bureau of Land Management, and other state and federal agencies.
  • Perform literature review, field reconnaissance, field surveys, and excavation for archaeological studies.
  • Prepare or review technical reports, California DPR-523 site forms, and other deliverables.
  • Interact with the California Office of Historic Preservation (OHP) and retrieve information using the California Historical Resource Information System (CHRIS).
  • Digitize records and perform basic GIS analyses in ArcMap.


REQUIREMENTS:
  • Graduate degree in Archaeology, Anthropology or related field preferred.
  • Must meet the Secretary of the Interior's Professional Standards for Archaeology to perform duties for NHPA Section 106 and NEPA compliance, pertaining especially to undertakings by multiple Federal agencies.
  • At least 5 years of related experience at increasing levels of responsibility, such as technician, crew chief, assistant field director, field director.
  • Demonstrated ability to carry research to completion.
  • Must have strong attention to detail in documentation of work.
  • Experience interacting with regulatory agency personnel preferred.
  • Excellent communication and computer skills.
  • Demonstrated business development abilities.
  • Ability to work within a team as well as independently.
  • May require travel into the field up to 10%
