Assistant Professor Anthropology

The Department of Anthropology in the College of Letters, Arts and Sciences seeks to hire a tenure track faculty position in Anthropology with specialization in cultural anthropology who has an active research program in Asia, Africa, and/or Pacific Islands. Strong preference for a cultural anthropologist who specializes in anthropology of labor and who can offer courses in anthropology of religion and applied research methods.

We particularly encourage applications from members of groups that have been marginalized or underrepresented in the field of anthropology and who will contribute to the breadth and diversity of our program.

The position is responsible for teaching various courses for the Department of Anthropology; exact courses taught will depend on need at the time of hire but generally include Introduction to Cultural Anthropology, History and Theory, Ethnographic Methods, and upper division courses in their specialty. Both in-person and online teaching may be required depending on department needs. The position requires a current and active research program. The position also requires service to the department, college, and/or field of study.
