We are expanding our team and seeking qualified, experienced Archaeological Technicians for seasonal, as needed/variable hour work based in the Oakland area. The position will support cultural resources field efforts in the Bay Area.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Effectively conduct archaeological field and lab work (or related office tasks) under the direction and supervision of a Dudek staff archaeologist
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Archaeology or Anthropology
- Current valid driver's license and the ability to safely operate a 4wd vehicle on rugged, backcountry roads
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with a wide range of archaeological field methods including pedestrian survey and shovel testing, testing/evaluation and data recovery excavations, and archaeological construction monitoring
- Completed an accredited field school certification
- Previous archaeological survey experience in California, and experience recording a variety of site and isolate types in the region
- Knowledge of and experience using ESRI Collector
- Understanding and willingness to safely accommodate difficult weather and other environmental conditions and challenges
- Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships
- Ability to provide and receive feedback
- Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships
- Ability to resolve conflict through collaboration and communication
- Physical ability to carry equipment and supplies (up to 40 lbs.) and walk or hike for long hours during fieldwork
- Ability to operate field equipment, including GPS equipment, cameras, and tablets
- Willingness to travel to a project location for several consecutive days
