Description
At Paychex, a Senior UX Researcher's primary responsibility is to lead research efforts and generate transformational insights that influence product strategies. In this role, you will be responsible for cultivating partnerships with managers in Product and Design, communicating the insights uncovered through your research, and providing ongoing feedback to user-driven design solutions that achieve project goals. You will advocate for insight-driven product strategies that strengthen our users' experience. You will collaborate with the Research Manager to mentor and develop UX Researchers I and II.
- Plan and implement contextual inquiries, field studies and interviews to explore users' workflows, needs and motivations. Partner with Product Managers and UX Designers to review and analyze data, form insights and drive improvements in our products and software experiences.
- Partner with Product Managers and UX Designers to innovate and develop new features and enhancements based on insights from multiple UX studies.
- Advocate research findings to diverse audiences through written reports and oral presentations
- Stay current with new research or testing methods, and share with the team. Explore and drive process improvements and best practices within the team.
- Monitor trends in technology and HCM domain to identify strategic opportunities
- Coordinate and lead a team of researchers when needed.
- Plan and implement usability studies. Includes proficiency in developing a research plan, screening and recruiting participants, facilitating sessions, analyzing results and determining root cause of issues, and communicating results and recommendations.
Requirements
- Master's Degree Required: Cognitive Science, Computer Science, Human Computer Interaction (HCI), Experimental Psychology, Anthropology, Information Science
- PhD preferred: Cognitive Science, Computer Science, Human Computer Interaction (HCI), Experimental Psychology, Anthropology, Information Science
- 10 years of experience in applied research setting. or the equivalent combination of education and experience; expert in all aspects of Usability including usability testing, surveys, interviews, focus groups, heuristic evaluations, personas, use-cases, wire framing, site mapping, process flows, etc.
- Proficient in project planning and selecting appropriate research methods to answer specific questions; detail oriented with the ability to multi-task and the ability to independently manage & meet deadlines
- Expert skills in running usability test sessions, contextual inquiry, field studies, and interviews, an extensive variety of usability methodologies; good analytical and quantitative skills
- Ability to uncover root cause of issues during usability testing and derive detailed insights from research sessions; ability to explain connection between insights and data gathered
- Ability to derive insights from survey and/or usage data.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; consistently provides excellent communication with project stakeholders and advocates for the end-user cross-functionally
- Ability to reimagine market trends and research insights into strategic product opportunities.
- Ability to inspire, coordinate and lead a cross-functional team through decision-making workshops
- Strong understanding of equipment and software (e.g. Camtasia, Web-ex, Miro) used in research activities including the ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve related problems
