About the opportunity

SWCA Environmental Consultants is seeking a Lead Project Manager -- Cultural Resources (archaeology) for our growing archaeology/cultural resources business in the New Mexico - Four Corners area (offices in Albuquerque, Carlsbad, Durango). Remote candidates in the greater Southwest and Rockies area will be considered. This is a regular, full-time, salaried position.

What you will accomplish
  • Manage all aspects of projects, including fieldwork, research, and report writing, with responsibility for successful on-time and on-budget completion of projects.
  • Collaborate with other project managers across the company to expand our knowledge base and nationwide project delivery.
  • Work with clients and agency representatives.
  • Oversee fieldwork and manage Quality Assurance/ Quality Control (QA/QC) review.
  • Prepare and create technical, high quality proposals, scientific reports, and literature reviews with little supervisory oversight.
  • Take initiative, resolve problems, and create improved procedures to ensure tasks are completed in the most effective manner. Must also demonstrate ability to anticipate problems early and take action and make decisions in a timely manner.

Experience and qualifications for success

REQUIRED
  • Bachelor's degree in anthropology, archaeology, history, or other related cultural resources discipline.
  • Minimum of four years of experience in environmental consulting required, including two years as a cultural resources project manager.
  • Primary report authorship and experience providing quality control review of field documents and reports is required.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in project planning, coordination, scheduling, creating/tracking budgets, and understanding of all aspects of a project from pre-field tasks to final report preparation.
  • Working knowledge of federal, state, and local cultural resources regulations.

PREFERRED OR HELPFUL
  • Master's degree in anthropology, archaeology, history, or other related cultural resources discipline.
  • Project management experience includes working on a variety of project types and sizes, on all project aspects (from pre-field tasks through final report preparation), in multiple regions, and with a variety of regulatory agencies.
  • Eligibility for cultural resources permits in this region (Rocky Mountains/New Mexico).
  • A background with Principal Investigator for Cultural Resources review experience is a plus.

In Colorado, an employee in this position can expect an annual rate of $50,000.00 to $75,000.00, depending on experience, geographic locations, client requirements where applicable, and other factors permitted by law.
