Responsibilities:
The Foreign Assistance Impact and Measurement Social Scientist will join a Guidehouse team of approximately 10 to support a Department of State client researching and investigating questions of the efficacy of U.S. Foreign Assistance around the globe using a wide variety of datasets for qualitative and quantitative questions. The team member will work to assist with answering key questions to optimize the use of U.S. Foreign Assistance and further build an evidence-based organization. The position also will work with the 21 other U.S. Foreign Assistance organizations including USAID, MCC, Peace Corps, and DoD among others.Daily work involves engaging with senior-level clients, gathering datasets, developing models, conducting qualitative and quantitative analysis, overseeing and coaching staff members, and developing presentations on findings for senior clients. The ideal candidate will be proactive, anticipate client needs before they arise, develop and adhere to workplans for deliverables and work products, and effectively communicate, collaborate, and follow-up with team members and clients.

Qualifications:
Required:- 12+ Years of experience- Ph.D in political science, international affairs, anthropology, human rights, performance measurement and evaluation, national security, comparative politics, international development, econometrics, or other related field.- Experience working on U.S. foreign assistance topics.- Experience with econometrics and producing inferential models and tests.- Experience conduting program evaluations including impact evaluations, randomized controlled trials, ex-post evaluations, or similar.- Qualitative and quantitative research and analysis skills and abilities.- An active Secret Clearance is requiredPreferred:- Experience working with US foreign assistance organizations e.g. Department of State, USAID, Peace Corps, Millenium Challenge Corporation etc. or experience with similar organizations in other countries and/or multilateral institutiosn e.g. the UN or the Wordl Bank.- Experience living and working in emerging markets and economies.- Experience leading a project or workstream, to include directing junior team members to complete tasks; reviewing junior team members work products and deliverables and providing constructive feedback;- Collaborating and contributing as a team member: ability to work both independently and as part of a team; ability to understand personal and team roles, contribute to a positive working environment by building solid relationships with team members, proactively seeking guidance, clarification and feedback;- Significant experience analyzing large and complex data sets, including a demonstrated thorough aptitude for conducting quantitative and qualitative analyses; - Ability to prioritize multiple completing tasks, researching and analyzing client data, and utilizing problem-solving skills and coaching others on doing so;- In-depth experience working with datasets using Python, SQL R, Alteryx or other tools- In-depth experience working with datasets and leveraging analytical and visualization tools (Tableau, Excel, Power BI); - Strong preference for experience working with foreign assistance datasets and/or international development/foreign affairs environment; and- Collaborative and inclusive of all backgrounds and opinions.
