What you will be doing

The Customer and Market Intelligence team has an opening for a Senior Manager, Consumer & Shopper Insights. As part of the Data & Insights Center of Excellence, the Senior Manager is responsible for the design, execution, analysis, and socialization of research projects and building and scaling new research capabilities that leverage our rich behavior-based household level data as an asset. Harnessing synergies with the analytics team to strengthen the power of insights deliverables and accelerate knowledge of customers and the marketplace is also a key focus. The team is seeking a Senior Manager who is intellectually curious and passionate about empowering stakeholders with shopper knowledge to drive better business decisions, strategy, and grow shopper loyalty and ROI.

The successful Senior Manager will ensure ACI maintains relevance with the shopper of today and the future by collaborating with analytics to deepen shopper knowledge with "hows and whys" and identifying strengths to leverage, gaps to narrow, and opportunities to differentiate and drive growth. They will partner to build future research capabilities that drive speed to insights and democratize data including developing an agile, on-demand research portal that leverages household data assets, and tools enhancing the team's ability to deliver automated & scalable insights.

The position will be based in Pleasanton, California.

Main responsibilities

· Independently design, develop and execute qualitative and quantitative research studies to address business issues.

· Autonomously set priorities, manage timelines/workflow of multiple projects simultaneously across a wide stakeholder base, managing expectations, vendors, budgets to deliver projects on time and within budget.

· Analyze and synthesize information from custom, analytic, transactional, and syndicated sources to provide recommendations that drive business decisions, strategy, and ultimately loyalty and sales.

· Present results to mid and senior level stakeholders clearly linking business questions to research results through strong story telling abilities and presentations that are simple, engaging, and actionable.

· Proactively build relationships & collaborate with internal business partners to understand priorities and strategy.

· Stay informed of retail, consumer, shopper trends & best practices for conducting research and uncovering insights.

What we are searching for

We believe the successful candidate has these qualifications and experience:

  • 4-year degree (Marketing, Marketing Research, Psychology, Statistics, Analytics, Mathematics, Economics, Anthropology, or Sociology a plus) and/or equivalent combination of education or work experience.
  • 7+ years progressive experience in consumer and shopper research/insights & analytics. Consumer-packaged goods, retail, or tech industry experience a plus.
  • Experience designing and building new capabilities / analytic techniques, KPI dashboards.
  • Advanced knowledge of and experience working with/analyzing proven and emerging omni-channel analytic, agile, qualitative, and quantitative consumer/shopper research techniques, methodologies, and approaches.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of research reporting and interpretation, scoping and research design.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and analytical capabilities.
  • Able to build relationships & collaborate with local & remote stakeholders to drive the use of research in decision making.
  • Excellent oral, written and formal presentation skills including the ability to communicate complex ideas in a simple way. Candidly and constructively speaks up even when it is difficult to do so.
  • Self-starter with strong initiative, follow through, and personal accountability for results.
  • Curious, detail oriented, resilient, agile, and tenacious. Hands-on team player.
  • Comfortable working autonomously and managing competing/changing business priorities and project deadlines in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Succeeds in ambiguous and unstructured situations.
  • Experience interpreting & synthesizing data & analysis from multiple data types (primary, syndicated, transactional, mobility, social, etc.) into clear concise "stories".
  • Adept at learning, integrating, and pulling data from new data sources brought on board.
  • Strong Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint skills. Knowledge of statistical packages a plus.
  • Travel Requirements: 20% - 30%
