Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Build out and scale a research program that empowers the entire organization to make customer centric UX and business decisions.
  • Attract, retain, develop, and manage a talented team of User Experience Research managers and practitioners.
  • Set expectations and maintain high standards of quality of the work for the team; demand excellence and encourage craftsmanship.
  • Establish trust and build relationships with cross-functional partners and executive leadership to assist in delivery. (e.g., Design, Product, and Engineering).
  • Clear and succinct communication of insights for peers, partners, and executive leadership to influence strategy, product development and roadmaps.
  • Unwavering prioritization of work across the product suite to maximize impact on the business and the user experience.
  • Act as mentor, leader, and coach across the Design and Research teams.
  • Foster an environment of acceptance across product stakeholders that user experience can always improve and it's rewarding to do so.
  • Oversee high quality work in a fast paced, complex environment.
  • Manage a high performing team with compassion.


Qualifications

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • 10+ years of combined hands-on experience through practice and management of User Experience or Design Research in the business context.
  • 5+ years building and managing research teams and programs
  • Degree in Psychology, Cognitive Science, Human Factors, Anthropology, Sociology, HCI, Humanities, Design, or a related field - or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with foundational, formative, and evaluative research methods such as: in-depth interviews, diaries, projective techniques, usability testing, concept/prototype testing, and surveys.
  • Experience in research operations including participant recruiting and management, gratuity programs, and partnering with legal and finance to facilitate research programs.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Familiarity with applied quantitative methods, mixed methods, or working with data scientists strongly preferred.
  • Spoken about or published in the field of User Experience, Design Thinking, Human-Centered Design, Cognitive/Behavioral Sciences, or similar topics.
  • Ability to think horizontally and collaborate with teams to create a holistic product experience.
  • Compelling and confident storyteller.
  • Resilient to changing environments and equipped with sense of humor to enjoy the ride
