Our Experience Design team is looking for a strategically focused Design Manager to join them. Our designers are veritable Swiss Army knives of design, as highly skilled generalists. The team works closely with the products team to work on everything from web applications to mobile apps. You could do some of your best work with us!

Responsibilities
  • Own the real-time allocation and workload of all direct team resources, across the entirety of the design process, from inception to delivery
  • Managing, mentoring, and coaching team of designers, providing design guidance and pushing the quality of the design work, and ensuring maximum job satisfaction, performance, career development, and overall happiness as a human
  • Ensure collaboration within the team and across other departments in all focus areas/work streams
  • Understand and articulate product specifications and user needs/motivations/expectations/behaviors effectively to support and guide team
  • Support direct team in ongoing work streams either directly, through coaching, or by flagging and escalating issues as they arise, and providing a solution-oriented approach to leadership style
  • Facilitate Design Thinking exercises (e.g. affinity mapping, interviews, etc.)
  • Partner with cross-functional peers (product, research, engineering) to ensure timely and effective delivery of all design work team is responsible for
  • Leading and representing your team effectively - substantiating the work and the decisions behind them, and advocating for user-centered design
  • Track projects to ensure milestones are being met and project status is documented and updated regularly; produce reports as appropriate/requested
  • Accelerating team efficiency by improving processes and workflows in partnership with design team leadership and cross functional teams
  • Keeping abreast of competitor products and industry trends to inform team's work
Requirements
  • 6-8 years of experience in design, at least 2-3 of which leading teams
  • Strong portfolio of design work-product, with clearly articulated business and user needs, how the work delivered on said needs, and their role in the work
  • Experience across the entire design process, from problem framing to high fidelity visual design
  • Familiarity with artifacts, methods, and deliverables of the design process
  • Proficient in design, facilitation, and collaboration tooling: design software, roadmap software and White boarding tools
  • Human focused attitude, problem-solving aptitude, analytical mindset, strategic thinking, collaborative approach
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent management, process definition, and documentation skills
  • Degree in Interaction Design, Product Design, Industrial Design, Human-computer Interaction (HCI), Anthropology, or equivalent
Bonus Points
  • Experience in Enterprise or SaaS design
  • Experience in designing for accessibility and/or many varying audiences
  • Experience across native, web, and other platforms
  • Basic-to-intermediate coding skills (HTML/CSS/JS/modern frameworks)
  • Experience in healthcare, insurance, or similar complex environments
