Major Duties
- Teach 12 credit hours of courses in anthropology and archeology per semester, including required and/or elective anthropology courses and WMU Essential Studies courses.
- Serve as the associate director for the Institute for Intercultural and Anthropological studies, assisting the IIAS director with coordination of anthropology course offerings, and leading curriculum development and assessment for anthropology program and anthropology WMU Essential Studies courses.
- Contribute toward Institute activities such as student recruitment and advising, as well as organizing extra-curricular programming relevant to the program (e.g., inviting outside speakers, collaborating with the community).
- Other duties and service as assigned by the unit's director.
- Scholarship activity that informs and complements teaching is desirable, but not required. Minimum Qualifications - PhD in anthropology or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 5 years teaching experience at the college level as the instructor of record.
- Experience coordinating a general education or major program of study.
- Teaching expertise in archaeology of the Mediterranean and/or Middle East. Desired Qualifications - 2 or more years of experience serving as an associate director or chair of an anthropology program or department.
- Experience developing, teaching and assessing general education courses.
