The College of Arts and Letters at Stevens Institute of Technology is seeking candidates for a full-time, non-tenure-track, renewable faculty appointment as Teaching Assistant Professor of Science & Technology Studies (STS) with an emphasis in computing and/or computation, beginning in fall 2022. Candidates should have a PhD (or be ABD) in a field affiliated with or closely related to Science and Technology Studies, including the History, Anthropology, Sociology, or Philosophy of Science and/or Technology. They will also have a track record of prior research and scholarly expertise in issues relating to Computers and Society (broadly construed).
The successful candidate will teach an undergraduate course on “Computers and Society,” whose primary enrollees are Computer Science majors, as their main teaching duties. Other courses may be assigned according to the individual’s background and expertise. The successful candidate will also possess experience teaching STS-related courses at the undergraduate level, with preference given to candidates whose work makes connections between technical aspects of computing technologies and their social outcomes.
