About the team: The mission of the Data and Insights team is to craft centralized & trusted data assets, deliver significant insights to the business, and encourage a data-driven culture across AppDynamics & Cisco! We are l ooking for an experienced Senior Information Architect / Business Analyst who can elicit business requirements across the organization and translate the needs into actionable analytical solutions.

About the Role

You will be a member of the Growth & Strategy Analytics team, working closely with global data colleagues, and cross-functional business partners. Your role is at the intersection of UX research, analytics translation and business analysis, organizational behavior design, and go-to-market strategy.

Who You'll Work With

This position will report to AppDynamics' Analytics Enablement Leader a nd will enable all functional areas to unlock growth opportunities. You will work in a team along with other roles such as UX researcher and strategist within the Data & Insights organization. The team puts on their detective hat and defines problems. They are a self-organizing agile team that solves problems from different angles and proactively surfaces the solutions to the stakeholders.

They act as intrapreneurs. They keep a pulse on the analytical gaps in the org, mature the solutions, and spin them off for scale through the power of the Enterprise Analytics team.

This position can be based out of AppDynamics' San Francisco headquarters, or anywhere within the Americas or Europe where Cisco has offices. This position can be done remotely.

Who You Are

You will partner up with data architects and decision scientists to create compelling stories, initiatives, products, and analytical solutions for the AppD business users to uncover growth opportunities. You will aim to improve annual recurring revenue through proactively surfacing growth opportunities that you discover in our data with the help of analysts. You welcome the opportunity to meet new people, listen deeply to others' viewpoints, and invite others to collaborate in your processes early. You can communicate complex issues in a clear and simple manner both in writing and verbally.

Wh at will help you succeed in this role:
  • Bachelor's degree in a UX-related field (human-computer interaction, human factors, or behavioral research), information science, Cognitive Psychology, behavioral science, behavioral economics, data science, Sociology, anthropology, Communication, Information science, Media studies, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4+ years of experience in applied product research, and/or other relevant research work (human factors, anthropologist, UX, etc.).
  • Be an intrapreneur. A Self-starter with a proven record to kick-start new initiatives and to drive sophisticated issues to resolution.
  • Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research methods and statistical concepts
  • Experience creating user personas, task analysis, user scenarios, and information architecture.
  • Effective communication skills with experience presenting to diverse audiences
  • Expand on proactive insights generation using our Intelligo platform
  • Proficiency in UX design and prototyping tools (i.e. Sketch, Invision, Abstract, and Figma)

Preferred qualifications:
  • Exposure to product roadmaps, go-to-market strategies, and organizational change management
  • Excellent business acumen
  • Experience with SaaS business models
  • Experience with data visualization & BI tools such as Qlik, Tableau, and Looker


What You Will Do

Your role includes:
Organizing the chaos
  • Partner with our Growth and Strategy team leads as well as other stakeholders across the organization (product, sales, finance, people, etc.) to define a strategic roadmap on how analytics can enable them to grow their business area.
  • Conduct research using a wide variety of methods, and interpret analysis through the lens of UX, HCI, and social science
  • Simplify and unify complex information into intuitive interactions, flows, charts, graphs, and other forms of visual representation (Information architecture)
  • Communicate results and illustrate suggestions in compelling and creative ways


Analytics Translator
  • Draws on their domain knowledge or business acumen to help business leaders identify and prioritize their business problems, based on which will create the highest value when solved.
  • Enables the dialogue around targets, goals, and KPIs setting with different functional leaders and provide the art of possible around the power of analysis
  • Helps our stakeholders turn data into action through task analysis, guided analytics, utilizing UI, UX, and data visualization best practices.
  • Collaborate with UI/UX designers on prototyping dashboards and validating the design artifacts with stakeholders and customers
  • You will collaborate and partner with portfolio managers to make sure the overall experience of our delivery is consistent with the core pillar of Analytics Enablement.
