Job Description

The Brand Strategy team at Pereira O'Dell is tasked with creating and setting into motion the overall beliefs and behaviors of a brand. Strategists must understand every element that impacts a brand's beliefs and behaviors: culture, consumer, company, category and currency - the entire landscape that affects the communications a brand puts out into the market to accomplish its goals.

The Brand Strategist works with the brand strategy team on brand strategy development for the brand, working closely with multi-disciplinary client teams and reporting to the Head of Brand Strategy. You are responsible for brand strategy framework and positioning development, target audience understanding, qual/quant research, and partnering with research partners as needed. The Brand Strategist is responsible for creative brief development and strategic recommendations based on primary and secondary research regarding culture, consumer, company, category and currency.

This position can be fully remote, but will be working east coast hours.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Cultural Anthropology - You're on top of current trends. It's your job to make sure the rest of the department (and the rest of the agency!) has "our finger on the pulse."
  • Creative Resources - You are tasked with creating competitive and SWOT analyses from time to time. You are sharing examples of best practices and inspiration to spark new creative ideas and/or new ways to reach audiences.
  • Business Analysis - You are leading the synthesis of a client's available research, and filling in the holes. You are seeking insights based on available data, recommending research that will provide necessary info, and helping the agency as a whole understand a client's business and challenges.
  • Consumer Behavior - You are leading the process to uncover consumer insights. This means leading the development of learning plans and primary consumer research (qual & quant) as well as amassing and interrogating all available information on an audience.
  • Client Management - You are finding clever ways to answer any question a client throws at the agency, e.g. "what's your POV on our competitor's new campaign? how should we wade into a new market?" "what does this segmentation study tell us?" You are tasked with making the agency look smart.
  • Technical Execution & Thought Leadership - You're making sh*t happen. You're churning out trend reports, you're summarizing research reports, you're putting together competitive reviews, and you're writing creative briefs.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • 3+ years agency experience in brand strategy, must include some digital
  • Working with and presenting to clients and creative
  • New business (presentations, RFPs, etc.)
  • Ability to recognize and fight for a good idea
  • Ability to inspire creative teams to develop great work
  • Comfortable working in an agile, fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work on cross functional teams to identify unique opportunities for client brands
  • Assist in conducting and commissioning both qualitative and quantitative research. Ability to read data and measure key KPIs for clients
  • Familiarity with research tools, such as Simmons, Crimson Hexagon, Facebook Profile Tool, etc.
