As a School Liaison you will support development and implementation of policies, strategies, or programs for prevention and intervention, integrating the information to advance school safety efforts against COVID 19. In this role you will provide schools and school-based organizations with approved information about state isolation, testing, and COVID 19 related procedures and monitors compliance supports compliance with COVID 19 guidance. The candidate for this role must have experience working in a school environment and possess the ability to understand the challenges in the communities and differences in attitudes and beliefs towards health issues and solutions. This role is critical in providing support to the health department outreach to schools and school-based programs to share information and guidance.

Responsibilities
  • Work with both school officials and the state with the development and revision of guidance related to COVID 19 for schools and school districts within the state including testing, screening, outbreak information, reporting requirements, and general school-related questions.
  • Provides schools and school-based organizations with approved information about state isolation, testing, and COVID 19 related procedures and monitors compliance supports compliance with COVID 19 guidance.
  • Provide COVID 19 contacts with approved information about the quarantine procedures, and if appropriate, refer them to testing according to protocol and/or to a COVID-19 Care Resource Coordinator for students and parents
  • Support development and implementation of policies, strategies, or programs for prevention and intervention, integrating the information to advance school safety efforts against COVID 19.
  • Foster partnerships with other departments in government, among schools and school districts, and community partners and stakeholders.
  • Serve as the focal point for school and public health and work within the states School Health Program.
  • Contribute qualitative and quantitative reports for school officials, the school system leadership and the state for continuous improvement.
  • Develop and implement strategies for information sharing on COVID 19 and school health work across jurisdictions.

Education
  • Bachelors degree from an accredited four-year college or university in public health, health education, biology, psychology, social work, political science, anthropology, or related field.

  • Experience working on addressing child health or public health issues, including promoting child health through data analysis and application, planning, program development, community partnerships, organizational policies and practices
  • Highly detail oriented, works well within a diverse team, demonstrates a high degree of initiative, and flexibility & adaptable.
  • Able to communicate effectively in a positive and professional manner, able to prioritize activities when under tight deadlines, and possesses analytical skills.
  • Ability to understand the challenges in the communities and differences in attitudes and beliefs towards health issues and solutions.
  • Ability to convey information in an empathetic and positive manner
  • Experience working with the school system
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)

Preferred Skills
  • Work experience in school / education environment
  • Experience in public health programs
  • Previous work with schools and or community or faith-based organizations with outreach to students and parent
  • Verbal and written communication skills in both English and Spanish or other languages of schools/community
  • Previous work with COVID-19 mitigation or vaccination efforts
  • Experience in data entry
