Staff Archaeologist Positions Available - Shreveport, Louisiana

Cultural Resource Analysts, Inc. (CRA) is seeking qualified candidates to join our team in the Louisiana office, and we are currently accepting applications for Staff Archaeologist positions. Located in Shreveport, in the heart of the Ark-La-Tex region, the Louisiana office was established in 2010 to support clients throughout the South Central and Southeastern U.S.

The Staff Archaeologist positions are eligible for a remote work option, and are full-time, salaried positions with a full benefits package including health, retirement, and insurance. Salary will be negotiable, and commensurate with experience.


Conduct pre-field research;
Direct fieldwork for archaeological monitoring, survey, evaluation, and data recovery projects;
Interpret analytical data, and prepare technical reports for all phases of fieldwork;
Field projects for the Louisiana office are typically conducted in Louisiana, Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Mississippi.


Graduate degree in anthropology;
Experience working in the Southeastern or South Central U.S.;
A minimum of three years of supervisory experience in cultural resource contracting;
Qualification under the Secretary of the Interior Standards (36 CFR Part 61) in archaeology;
Registered Professional Archaeologist (RPA), or eligible for RPA;
Ability to use GPS units and navigate efficiently in remote areas;
Technological proficiency that includes some experience working in word processing, spreadsheet, and database usage;
Must be able to work 8 to 10 hour days in a variety of conditions and understand that there will be frequent stays away from the office.
Stooping, bending, and lifting are essential functions of this position.

Desirable Skills:

Excellent writing and verbal communication skills;
Strong organizational skills;
Experience or qualification to perform historic architectural surveys;
Technical ability using GIS software;
Previous archaeological experience in Louisiana, Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and/or Mississippi.

Details of Remote Work Option:

Desktop research, report writing, and similar tasks may be conducted remotely at the Staff Archaeologist's place of residence;
Remote meetings and other tasks may be attended from the Staff Archaeologist's place of residence;
The Staff Archaeologist will travel and be on-site for all assigned fieldwork;
Travel may be required to the Shreveport, Louisiana office for public and private meetings, archival research, training, and other project tasks that necessitate face-to-face interaction. For this reason, the Staff Archaeologist's place of residence will need to be within reasonable driving distance from the Shreveport, Louisiana office.
