About the Master of Arts in Bioethics Program at Emory University
The Master of Arts in Bioethics degree program provides rigorous, advanced, interdisciplinary study in bioethics for professionals and students interested in the social and ethical challenges facing health care, public health and the biomedical sciences. The diverse student body includes post-baccalaureate students, dual degree students (from our 8 dual degree programs), and working professionals from academia, chaplaincy, medicine, nursing and public health.

Position Description
We are seeking to fill the position of a two-year bioethics postdoctoral fellowship at the Center for Ethics at Emory University. The candidate is expected to engage in teaching in the MA in Bioethics program and academic service to the Center for Ethics while maintaining an active research program in bioethics.
The teaching responsibilities of the postdoctoral fellow will include 1/1 teaching load in the first year, a 1/2 teaching load in the second year as well as student advisement and thesis supervision. These are also opportunities to guest teach and co-teach throughout the university (e.g. in Emory College, School of Medicine and the School of Nursing).
The service responsibilities of the postdoctoral fellow will include contributions to the admissions and ongoing administration of the MA in Bioethics program as well as the planning and organization of the annual Healthcare Ethics Consortium conference, Shields Lecture Series in Institutional Ethics and other Center for Ethics academic events.
The postdoctoral fellow will also be required to maintain an active research program in bioethics. The research specialization in bioethics is open. However, we would particularly welcome applicants with bioethical research interests in equity, inequality, and marginalized populations; neuroethics; clinical ethics; or research ethics.
The salary is competitive, and will be based on the National Institutes for Health National Research Service Award stipend rates. The postdoctoral fellow will have access to the professional development and training opportunities offered by Emory University's Office of Postdoctoral Education, including Grant Writing Bootcamps, Executive and Leadership Training, and Career Counseling.
Required Qualifications:
- Terminal degree (e.g. PhD, MD, JD or equivalent higher education experience) in anthropology, bioethics, economics, nursing, philosophy, public health, religion, sociology or a related field, with a strong academic background and interest in bioethics.
- Higher education teaching experience
