WestLand Engineering & Environmental Services is seeking to add an Archaeology Field Director to our growing team in Nevada. If you are proficient in overseeing archaeological surveys, directing testing and data recovery projects, and are experienced running projects in the western United States, then this position is a perfect fit! The successful candidate will be based out of WestLand's Reno, Nevada, office. WestLand's cultural resources consulting practice specializes in archaeological surveys, monitoring, archaeological testing, and data recovery projects for a variety of clients throughout the western U.S. WestLand's staff members are well versed in city, state, and federal procedures and policies. The successful candidate should have the ability to be permitted for work in Nevada.

REQUIREMENTS
  • Master's degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or related field. Bachelor's degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or related field AND additional years of experience may substitute Master's degree.
  • A Minimum of two years supervisory experience in the western United States.
  • Previous fieldwork experience working in/around the Great Basin and knowledge of prehistoric and historic archaeology of the region.
  • Previous experience writing technical archaeological reports.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced and creative environment.
  • Ability to travel for assignments.

Essential Duties
  • Project Management
  • Assemble and supervise field crews
  • Research and report writing
  • Conduct and oversee Class III Cultural Resource Surveys
  • Conduct eligibility testing projects
  • Conduct archaeological Data Recovery Projects
  • Other related duties as assigned
