SUMMARY

The Social Worker will provide counseling and related services to USG personnel and Kabul Locally Employed (LE) Staff at U.S. safe haven locations, CONUS/OCONUS transit locations, and Washington, DC.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Serves as a licensed clinical social worker
  • Provide crisis intervention, problem assessment, and supportive counseling to USG personnel and Kabul LE Staff at U.S. safe haven locations, CONUS/OCONUS transit locations, and Washington, D.C.
  • Provide behavioral health counseling and related services to USG personnel and Kabul LE Staff at U.S. safe haven locations, CONUS/OCONUS transit locations, and Washington, D.C.
  • Provide training, briefings, presentations, and seminars on strengthening resilience and other pertinent mental health issues to USG personnel and Kabul LE Staff
  • Provide support and clinical expertise on matters related to mental health concerns and other issues
  • Provide group and individual pre-resettlement briefings to Kabul LE Staff
  • Provide mental health support for USG personnel and Kabul LE Staff to include support for, but not limited to: behavioral problems, conflict with others, coping with family illness, cultural adjustments, work place concerns, life stage issues, couple's issues, mental/medical health issues, grief and loss, domestic violence, substance abuse, parenting, elder care, isolation, ethics, and trauma
  • Provide training to USG personnel regarding the psychological impact of working with Afghan guests at U.S. safe haven and CONSU/OCONUS transit locations
  • Provide ongoing health enhancement programs and seminars to include subjects such as improving sleep/rest, balancing one's life while living and working in a high stress environment, smoking cessation, personal goal setting, and stress/anger management
  • Work collaboratively with U.S. safe haven and CONUS/OCONUS transit location State POCs to develop specific briefings and presentations that address issues that are pertinent to their USG personnel and the Kabul LE Staff
  • Collaborate with other health care providers in patient care
  • Perform all duties with scrupulous regard for confidentiality
  • Assure the proper control, protection, and security of medical records and other sensitive information

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's or graduate degree from an accredited college or university in international law, international relations, social work, history, sociology, geography, social or cultural anthropology, or in the humanities; OR
  • Bachelor's or graduate degree from an accredited college or university that included a combination of courses, with at least 24 semester hours in international law and international relations, political science, economics, history, sociology, geography, social or cultural anthropology, law, statistics, or in the humanities; OR
  • Have 12 semester hours in one of the above disciplines and 12 semester hours in statistics/quantitative methods. OR
  • Combination of education and experience where coursework was equivalent to a major, or a combination of related courses totaling at least 24 semester hours, (as shown above), PLUS appropriate relevant experience (including experience within or in support of the U.S. military) OR additional education. OR
  • Completed at least 4 years of appropriate experience in one OR more of the fields listed above in work associated with international organizations, problems, or other aspects of foreign affairs.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Must pass a Moderate Risk Public Trust (MRPT) determination
  • Ability to successfully pass a drug screen and background investigation

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work will be primarily performed in a climate-controlled office environment.
