Description: This position is in the APA division, which manufactures coatings for Automotive customers. The coatings in APA are used for plastic parts including door handles and wheel flares, spoilers (Plastic parts for cars).
Need to be able to lift 50lbs. 5 gallon buckets of paint are about 40lbs and though it's not often, being able to lift that much is crucial.
The APA team reports into the Cleveland, Ohio plant, but they have a local team working from the Oak Creek plant because this is the largest plant PPG has, and it's the best plant for work space and available equipment to use.
See a list of ingredients, add the what was asked by the project owner and then spray onto a panel. will make 5-7 panels a day.
Operate and troubleshoot coatings application equipment including spray gun
Run routine QC analysis to verify products meet the customer standards.
Perform basic physical property lab testing including gloss, gel, cure time, hardness, viscosity.
Mix samples and and small batches of 1 gallon or less.
Assist with general duties including routine sample prep and cleaning
Clean the spray booth
Keep detailed and accurate lab notebook. The data generated is used to help fulfill the Technical Department's major accountabilities: product development, sales services and service to production
If candidates make a great impression and show initiative to go above and beyond, they could be selected to take on additional responsibilities and more advanced projects.
Support laboratory and production department managers with various duties as assigned.

Additional Skills & Qualifications: BS Degree in a Scientific field or a HS Diploma w/ Chem coursework.
Basic Computer skills with Microsoft Office, Word and Excel, and spreadsheets.
Personality to fit in with the team. (Adaptable-not flustered by last-minute changes, willing to get dirty, takes detailed notes and takes training seriously the
Basic math skills - ratios, percentages, fractions, weight conversions.
Any Labs or Coursework in Chemistry would be a huge plus.
