The Department of Anthropology in the Krieger School of Arts and Sciences at Johns Hopkins University is seeking to fill an open-rank, tenure track or tenured position in the intersections of political and economic anthropology. We are particularly interested in themes relating to gender equity, health inequalities, environmental justice, emergent political forms, and/or alternative economic horizons. Work with thematic links to Black life in the United States would be especially welcome. These might include the production of race (including within anthropology); incarceration, state violence, and other afterlives of slavery; and community mobilizations around land, property, or food. Candidates should have a strong publication record of innovative work, and a serious commitment to teaching at both graduate and undergraduate levels. We also welcome a record of attention to social inequality and/or an impactful, publicly engaged program of research and writing. We anticipate a start-date as early as July 1st, 2022. The Department of Anthropology is committed to seeking a candidate who, through their research, teaching, and service, can contribute to the racial equity, diversity, and inclusion of the academic community.
A Ph.D. is required, but we will accept applications from doctoral students expected to fulfill Ph.D degree requirements by July 1, 2022.
Applications should include a cover letter; a CV (5 pages maximum); a description of scholarly, teaching, and service activity, with reference to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion (3 pages maximum); and the names of three referees. All application material should be submitted online via Interfolio by December 12th, 2021. Review of applications will begin thereafter and continue until the position is filled.
Job Type: Full Time Johns Hopkins University is committed to active recruitment of a diverse faculty and student body. The University is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer of women, minorities, protected veterans and individuals with disabilities and encourages applications from these and other protected group members. Consistent with the University's goals of achieving excellence in all areas, we will assess the comprehensive qualifications of each applicant.
