Associate Professor / Assistant Professor

The Department of Anthropology is seeking an outstanding candidate for Associate/ Assistant Professorship (tenure-track) specializing in Archaeology with geographical focus in Asia.

Applicants should:

(i)     have a PhD degree in anthropology/archaeology with geographical focus in Asia;

(ii)     have published in international journals;

(iii)    be able to teach courses relating to archaeology or cultural heritage such as:

        (a) Archaeology of China

        (b) China's Cultural Heritage

        (c) Human Evolution

        (d) Museums and Anthropology

        (e) Preserving Cultural Heritage

        (f) Understanding Archaeology

(iv)    be able to supervise students' projects and postgraduate theses related to archaeology and cultural heritage; and

(v)    assist in administrative duties

Excellent English is essential and Chinese language ability is an advantage. Compensation is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Appointment will normally be made on contract basis for three years initially commencing August 2022, which, subject to mutual agreement and performance, may lead to longer-term appointment or substantiation later.
