Job Details
The Department of Anthropology at Smith College invites applications for the Eveillard Postdoctoral Fellow in Anthropology, a benefits-eligible position with potential for a one-year renewal to begin July 1, 2022. Teaching responsibilities for this position are two courses per year and will include one section of Introduction to Anthropology. Other courses taught will be dependent upon the candidate’s field of specialization. Candidates should have a strong foundation in both comparative social theory and ethnographic research. Ph.D. in anthropology is expected by the time of appointment. Candidates from groups underrepresented in the discipline of anthropology are especially encouraged to apply.
We are particularly interested in applicants whose work explores the intersection of global political and economic institutions with the lived realities of local communities and include topics such as: immigration/migration/asylum and refugees, health care, education, cultural revitalization, intellectual property, kinship, labor and precarity. Strong applicants will have a focus on diverse regions of the world and will not overlap significantly in areas already covered by our faculty.
