*Purpose of Position:*The CNU College of Social Sciences is accepting applications from prospective adjunct faculty members to teach individual, in-person/face-to-face courses, as needed, in the following areas in Fall 2021 and beyond:
• Department of Sociology, Social Work, and Anthropology
- Sociology
- Criminology
- Social Work
- Geography
- Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
Along with demonstrated ability for excellent teaching, candidates must hold an earned graduate or terminal degree from a regionally accredited university in a relevant discipline, with 18 completed semester hours of related graduate course work. Official transcripts will be required at the time of hire.
Candidates for hire are required to complete a CNU sponsored background check.
*Departmental Information:*The Department of Sociology, Social Work and Anthropology's mission is to present the intellectual foundations of sociology, social work, anthropology, criminology and geography. Built on a strong liberal arts base, our programs are mindful of each discipline's responsibility to mentor students who will be engaged citizens in a multicultural, diverse and global society. Our instructional mission is to provide students with knowledge and skills that are applicable to a broad range of settings, including the public and private sector, and to better prepare students to pursue graduate and professional degrees in sociology, social work, anthropology, criminology and related disciplines. In addition to these, the social work program prepares students for entry level social work practice. We emphasize each discipline's core concepts, theories, bodies of knowledge, techniques of social research, the ability to think critically, and the clear expression of ideas, both written and oral. This educational mission promotes scientific and intellectual inquiry and fosters qualities of leadership. Finally, our programs advocate service to the community and Commonwealth. *Faculty Information:*CNU is committed to outstanding teaching and learning, undergraduate education, and the liberal studies core; The Fall 2020 freshman class of 1,155 students was selected from 7,300 admission applications, and presented average high school GPA and SAT scores of 3.8 and 1184, respectively.
