Participation in the Research Internship Program requires that you are physically located in the United States or Canada for the duration of the internship.
Research Internships at Microsoft provide a dynamic environment for research careers with a network of world-class research labs led by globally-recognized scientists and engineers. Our researchers and engineers pursue innovation in a range of scientific and technical disciplines to help solve complex challenges in diverse fields, including computing, healthcare, economics, and the environment.
Microsoft Research New York City (MSR NYC) is looking for multiple interns to collaborate with members of the Fairness, Accountability, Transparency, and Ethics in AI (FATE) research group. The group currently includes the following researchers and postdocs: Solon Barocas, Su Lin Blodgett, Alexandra Chouldechova, Kate Crawford, Hal Daumé, Miro Dudík, Nicolas Le Roux, Vera Liao, Michael Madaio, Alexandra Olteanu, Koustuv Saha, Hanna Wallach, and Jennifer Wortman Vaughan. Members of the group collaborate extensively with each other and with other groups across Microsoft.
Applicants should have a demonstrated interest in FATE-related topics and a desire to work in a highly interdisciplinary environment that includes researchers from computer science, statistics, social sciences, humanities, and other fields. We welcome applicants with a background in a technical field (such as machine learning, AI, NLP, computer vision, or statistics) and applicants with a socio-technical orientation, such as those in HCI, information science, sociology, anthropology, science and technology studies, media studies, history of science, and law.
