The Sociology and Anthropology Department at Fairfield University invites applications for a full time tenure-track assistant professor position in Biological/Biomedical Anthropology with the ability to contribute to the Health Studies program. The position will start in Fall 2022. Applicants are expected to have completed a Ph.D. in Anthropology by the hiring date. Scholars with expertise in one or more of the following will be given priority consideration: epidemiology, race, sex, gender, sexuality, global and/or public health. 

Applicants must have a strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching. The position would include teaching Biological and/or Biomedical Anthropology, research methods, and elective courses that would contribute to the Health Studies program. Teaching experience is preferred. The teaching load is three undergraduate courses each semester, with research and university service also required for promotion and tenure. 

The Sociology and Anthropology department consists of seven full-time faculty members and one professor of the practice representing a range of specialties in Anthropology, Sociology and related programs at Fairfield University, including International Studies, Environmental Studies, Educational Studies, Humanitarian Action, American Studies, Black Studies, Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies, and the Master’s Program in Applied Data Science.
