What your day-to-day will look like:

  • Lead research design and project engagements for Fortune 500 clients across a range of industries and project types independently and as part of a team
  • Contribute to and lead cross-functional teams (strategy, insights, design, technology), providing research expertise and guidance
  • Act as a trusted client partner and human-centered research design expert, relied on for strategic POVs
  • Understand and incorporate complex business, strategic, and technical requirements into research
  • Collect, analyze, and synthesize user behavior through field studies into actionable insights and recommendations to inform future products, services, and experiences
  • Work with teams to design and facilitate successful presentations and workshops that advocate research findings and implications to diverse audiences, including senior executive level clients
  • Support project design across a range of project types and contribute to the end-to-end creation of winning proposals
  • Contribute to organizational business development activities from opportunity identification to sold work
  • Support the evolution of ethnographic theory and practice across the organization, including tools and methods
  • Work with other behavioural scientists, design researchers, and other professionals to prioritize research opportunities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Actively manage a broad network of stakeholders within Idea Couture and Cognizant


What you'll need:

  • Graduate degree (Masters or PhD) in anthropology, sociology, other relevant social science/behavioral science disciplines, or equivalent practical experience
  • Proven experience conducting ethnographic research
  • Proven ability to critique, analyze, and elevate strategies and ideas
  • Strong presentation and facilitation skills with the ability to command a room
  • Strong background in study/survey design and quantitative research methods
  • Proficiency in data analysis with SPSS, R, Excel
  • Proficient in translating data and research findings into actionable insights and directional principles
  • A deep understanding of the strengths and shortcomings of different research methods, including when and how to apply them during the product development process
  • Conversant in the principles and practices of human-centered design and design thinking
  • Note: Currently travel is not a requirement; would expect up to 25% as business requirements change


We are especially interested in those with backgrounds and/or experience in the following:

  • Fluency in French, Spanish, German, Mandarin, Japanese, and/or other language(s) is a major asset, as we work in many different countries and cultures
  • Scholarly or other publishing records
