Associate Director, Social Science - McCann Health

Temporary role with potential for Full-Time conversion

The Associate Director, Social Sciences, supports both brand strategists and senior social science experts to identify critical drivers of health-related behaviors. In this capacity, the Associate Director, Social Sciences will draw upon experience in one of the sub fields of relevance (anthropology, sociology, psychology, behavioral, economics, linguistics, and public health) to support insight generation, tactical development, research, and campaign development. The Associate Director, Social Sciences utilizes McCann's social science tools and helps to identify new areas of innovation with the social science practice

About the Job:
  • Consulting internal teams on how to apply social sciences in a practical way to their brand challenges
  • Collaborate and integrate Social Sciences into multi-disciplinary Strategic Planning teams (including Strategic Planning, Digital Engagement Strategy, and Scientific Strategy)
  • Participate in team meetings and brainstorm sessions
  • Master the McCann Health Social Sciences Toolkit and quickly apply it independently to solve client problems
  • Act as an internal and external consultant to provide insight and solve problems related to behavior change, bias, habit formation, and beyond
  • Supporting new business efforts by infusing principles of social sciences into pitch presentations
  • Stay up-to-date on emerging Social Sciences fields of study
  • Design and conduct Social Science research and apply learnings to client problems
  • Championing the Social Sciences toolkit internally and externally through training internal team members to have conversational competence in each tool and to execute each tool on client projects
  • Have a deep knowledge of how to structure and interpret qualitative and quantitative market research to find Social Science-based insights
  • Conduct literature reviews and synthesize key findings
  • Write and present point-of-view summaries on relevant industry topics
  • Stay up-to-date on emerging Social Sciences fields of study
  • Collaborate with the McCann Health Global Social Sciences community on practice development activities, such as the monthly roundtable, global status, and brainstorming sessions

About you:

  • Ability to "translate" and present complex Social Sciences concepts into easily understandable and applicable language
  • Strong PowerPoint/presentation skills
  • Degree in Anthropology, Psychology, Sociology, Behavioral Economics, Linguistics, Public Health, Health Psychology, Applied Behavioral Sciences or in a relevant area Master's degree strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of health behavior change models and theories
  • Approximately 4+ years experience in an advertising agency, consulting, market research preferred or 2+ years in an academic research setting within a relevant field of study and experience applying academic experience to private sector needs
