Position Summary:

This is a school support position maintaining discipline, surveillance and control over the non-instructional activities of students. Employees in this class are responsible for regulating, monitoring and directing the activities of students outside and within a school building/the adjacent areas. Additionally, the position involves receiving, storing and issuing school supplies, operating simple office equipment and performing routine filing tasks. Assignments may be received from the lead NTA in the building. Employees in this class may be assigned, transferred or moved to various schools as the need arises.

Major Responsibilities
  • Patrols the school building and surrounding areas before, during and after school hours to maintain an orderly flow of scholars entering and exiting the building
  • Inspects locker and play areas, lavatories, and halls for scholars who are loitering or in unauthorized areas
  • Questions scholars to make sure they are their proper location
  • Stops smoking and other unauthorized activities occurring on school property
  • Assists teachers in handling routine disciplinary cases.
  • Monitors scholars during lunch and recess periods
  • Supervises the late room and completes late cards and other forms to admit students to class
  • Issues locks and lockers to students.

Education and certifications
  • Education equivalent to the completion of the twelfth school grade.
  • One year of volunteer or paid experience working with youth which has included responsibility for maintaining discipline or security, directing activities and/or counseling.
