Overview:

McCormick Taylor, Inc.'s (MT) Cultural Resources Group (based out of Harrisburg, PA) is seeking to hire Archeologist I, Field Technician level positions on a temporary, full-time basis to supplement the group's work of archaeological field investigations and lab activities in the Mid-Atlantic.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Basic understanding and experience with archaeological excavation and recordation techniques (shovel test pits (STPs), test units (TUs), surface collection, plan and profile drawings, etc.)

Basic understanding and ability to identify archaeological materials (artifacts, ecofacts, surface features, etc.) and ability to make soil distinctions

Ability to follow directions of the Field/Lab Director and Principal Investigator

Ability to provide thorough descriptive information on standardized forms

Possesses and/or developing written and verbal communication skills

Organized team player able to work efficiently under tight deadlines

Qualifications:

Candidates shall have the following qualifications:

Completed an accredited archaeological field school

In progress or completed a B.A. in Anthropology/Archaeology or closely related field

Candidates should be able to perform all potential field-related activities including strenuous fieldwork in varied weather conditions, hiking, and carrying gear. The ability to travel to conduct fieldwork is a must. When project travel is required, per diem, hotel room accommodations, and travel mileage are provided.

Any previous work or training in the field of Cultural Resource Management (CRM) and having knowledge of Section 106 of the 1966 Historic Preservation Act would be beneficial.

The position requires the ability to process field data in accordance with MT standards. All employees are expected to comply with MT company policies including COVID-19 safety protocols for travel and fieldwork.

Candidates must have a valid driver's license, be able to drive, and have access to reliable transportation.
