To provide high-level professional, substantive, technical, and administrative coordination support to senior investigators and investigators in the design, implementation, day-to-day operations, and dissemination of findings of research, demonstration, and evaluation projects. Co-authors scientific papers for publication and presentation at industry meetings.
Essential Functions:
- Participate with senior investigators and investigators in designing, developing, implementing, and conducting research projects in the substantive field of knowledge on which the research is based (e.g., economics, sociology, epidemiology, anthropology, psychology, pharmacogenetics, comparative effectiveness etc.), and, at the direction of an investigator, take the lead in designing, developing, and implementing smaller research projects connected to an investigator's research agenda and program of research (multiple related projects). Or may also supervise project staff and direct a diverse set of research activities on one or more large scale research projects or a program of research with multiple components.- Participate in designing and interpreting statistical analyses of research data and in preparing presentations and publications as a co-author to disseminate findings from research projects; at the direction of the investigator, take the lead in designing, implementing, interpreting and reporting analyses of research data to address specific subsidiary research questions connected to a research program or agenda.- Participate in translating specific research questions into appropriate functional and analytic designs and protocols and operationalizing conceptual variables; at the direction of the investigator, take lead responsibility for translating a specific research question into an appropriate analytic design and operationalizing selected variables; create, or assist in the creation of, new health-related interventions.- Prepares a major portion of grant proposals with the investigator, including study tools, protocols and development of a research study budget.- Provide technical/consultative services to investigators, data administrators, research associate I & IIs, clinicians and other KP or CHR departments in one's substantive field of knowledge. Interacts with national study sites, project officers, and research teams. May perform other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
Experience- Substantial experience (minimum five (5) years) in one (1) or more of the technical areas required and some experience (one (1) year) in all technical areas.Education- Doctoral degree with minimum (5) years of relevant research experience or a master's degree with minimum ten (10) years of relevant research experience or equivalent experience in public health, health care administration, epidemiology or other related field required by the position.License, Certification, Registration- N/A Additional Requirements:- Demonstrated knowledge of research principles, design and strategies, biostatistical analysis and data interpretation.- Demonstrated ability to conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis methods.- Must demonstrate effective communication, consulting, interpersonal and project management skills, and research team building skills.- Demonstrated knowledge of programming using statistical software (SAS, SPSS etc.) and data management software.
Preferred Qualifications:- Experience working in all aspects of a research study in social, behavioral, health services, clinical or related areas preferred.- A doctoral degree with minimum eight (8) years of health-related research experience.- Comprehensive knowledge of statistical theory and hypothesis testing (including a statistical analysis software library, such as SAS, SPSS or S+) quantitative or qualitative analysis methods, and database management.- Knowledge of medicine, health care data and trends, managed care delivery model, public health and health care policy.
