Job Details

The Department of Cultural Anthropology seeks to hire an outstanding scholar for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position whose research and teaching focuses on questions of anti-Black racism and global Blackness in the United States and/or in the Diasporas with an effective date of July 1, 2022.

We will consider all areas of research specialization, although special consideration will be given to candidates whose research attends to social movements, decolonization and decolonizing anthropology, anti-racist activism, surveillance regimes as they relate to articulating race/class/gender; environmental racism; the plantationocene, (anti)social media and the making and unmaking of communities.

Applicants must have completed all requirements for a Ph.D. in Anthropology or a related field by the start date.

The successful candidate will contribute to undergraduate and graduate teaching, mentor graduate students, advise undergraduate students, and teach courses on theory and methods. In addition, the candidate will build bridges with other relevant units across the university.
