Overview of PositionThe UX Researcher is responsible for planning and conducting research to inform and influence the design and functionality of Change Healthcare's business users (B2B) and medical consumer (B2C) software products and solutions. She/he will conduct discovery, user experience, and usability research with patients and medical staff utilizing the Design Thinking approach - exercising good judgement in methodology selection, the identification and recruitment of participants, and the effective execution of in-person interviews and online testing. Responsible for the evaluation of research results and the thoughtful synthesis and presentation of insights. Engaging project teams and senior leaders in actively listening to target users, she/he will utilize immersive research to inform design and development decisions via derived user insights (needs, pain points), usability research data, trends, and best practices.
Particular emphasis for this role is on quantitative methods and their application in UX for usability, validation, and task-based testing of interactive designs. Experience with such online testing tools such as UserZoom and Qualtrics is required, as to support rapid testing at scale as to ensure the delivery of meaningful end-user experiences. Such validation testing allows for progress tracking via identified usability criteria, quality and UX benchmarking, and business performance metrics. As such, synthesis and analysis of user feedback, results and actions are critical in identifying patterns, themes and insights, and presenting back results in a compelling, fact-based summary of the user experience performance versus the desired outcome. Experience in experimental design and familiarity with statistical software packages (SPSS, R, etc.) is required, as is an active interest in identifying, experimenting, and sharing research methods, best practices and new techniques with the broader UX Research team.
The ideal candidate has demonstrated expertise in Human Centered Design and the use of such qualitative and quantitative research techniques in the product and service markets. She/he is responsible for working cross functionally with teams to shape and execute user research plans based on business needs and opportunities for both existing and new products. Active interest in applying rapid prototyping and user testing in combination to ensure both high efficiency and high customer-relevant value in the final product.
What will be my duties and responsibilities in this job?
- Develop and use design research methodologies and insights to drive decision making
- Interpret research results, derive implications, perform analysis and gather strategic intelligence to provide insight regarding the market, trends and our customer needs, pain points and behaviors
- Work with product managers, designers, developers and partners to ensure product and service design is informed by user insights
- Contribute to the wider development of user insights repository in the synthesis and creation of Customer Success Criteria, user workflows and end-to-end journey maps
- Ensure overall quality of project solutions throughout the research and design process
What are the requirements needed for this position?
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Centered Design, Social Science, Cognitive Science, Experimental Psychology, Anthropology, Information Science, or related field
- Five years of industry experience as a hands-on UX researcher, working across multiple platforms, including mobile, web, personal computer
- Experience in the healthcare or payments industries is preferred
- Passion for User Centered Design, and superior creativity and adaptability
- Masterful at uncovering insights, and able to inspire others in acting upon them
- Well versed on the latest methodology, study design, and analysis/reporting, including ethnographic research, site visits, interviews, voice of the customer, think-out-loud studies, and task-based usability testing
- Ability to analyze research for key needs, pain points, and preferences, and synthesize such qualitative and quantitative information for presentation to key stakeholders
- Organized, self-directed, efficient and able to manage multiple and complex projects in a timely manner
- Confident in taking the lead on projects when called upon, be it in managing research teams in the field or an overall project
- Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
- Active learner, actively seeking to expand and share knowledge and experience in UX research, as to best support the evolving needs of the team and Change Healthcare
- Portfolio that includes examples of lead role in conducting early user discovery, UX, and usability research with insightful and impactful business outcomes
