Introduction
Thomas J. Watson said it best: "Good design is good business." Visualization is critical to discovering data-driven insights and effectively communicating that knowledge to others. Designers at IBM work to create experiences that work together, work the same, and work for our clients. Does the thought of creating the platform at the heart of solutions like Watson, Blockchain, IoT, and Security excite you? If so, read on!

Your Role and Responsibilities
We are seeking an experienced User Researcher to join our UX Research team for Cloud! We are a team of dedicated user research professionals working with product teams and across our hybrid cloud portfolios to make IBM products better for our users. Our work includes activities like usability assessments, interviews, journey and empathy mapping, design studio sessions, surveys, and data analysis to uncover market and user needs and expectations. We also have a lot of fun together as a user research team - helping each other learn and grow as user researchers, collaborating on innovative, creative, and passion projects, and building friendships.

As a User Researcher, you'll be contributing to the design and development of world-class cloud applications and services leveraging a wide variety of open source, machine learning, and commercial technologies aimed at dramatically expanding the reach of the IBM Cloud to millions of enterprise developers. Our focus on delivering performance and predictability for our customers' most demanding workloads, at global scale and with leadership, efficiency, resiliency, and security is the cornerstone of our development model and will result in maintaining IBM's leadership position for years to come.

As a User Researcher, you will be uncovering often unarticulated user needs and connecting those to business goals. You will define, prioritize, and execute a program of research using a range of qualitative and quantitative methodologies, and communicate actionable insights to stakeholders. Your insights will inform products used by customers across the world to build, deploy, and manage cloud services.

You will help drive best practices for research methods and contribute to the creation of repeatable processes that enable a user research organization to grow and scale.

You will be identifying and connecting with our target users and becoming their advocate to influence our product design to provide innovative solutions that best meet their needs.

You will collaborate effectively with product management, engineering, and remote teams. You will be partnering with some of the leading technologists in the fields of cloud and cognitive computing, and will translate findings tailored for your audience, including senior and executive leaders.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
2+ years' experience conducting user research throughout the entire product development lifecycle
Demonstrated success relating generative and evaluative research insights to core business goals
Experience triangulating customer insights from a combination of qualitative, quantitative user research studies and behavioral analytics

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
Master's degree or doctorate in a related discipline - in Experimental Psychology, Cognitive Science, Human Factors, Human Computer Interaction, Anthropology, Sociology or related discipline
Experience with cloud computing and/or open-source technology
Experiencing working with enterprise software (agile/continuous delivery desired)
Experience managing projects involving cross-functional teams
