In the Parks Division of the Nebraska Game & Parks Commission, we are committed to serving the public by providing diverse recreational and educational outdoor opportunities for all to enjoy. Working as a Temporary Park Worker for the Parks Division, you will gain valuable experience in fields such as tourism and hospitality, educational and historical interpretation, horticulture, facility maintenance, and more. Examples of Work
Each year the Parks Division hires a number of temporary employees to assist with its park operations, which include: Lifeguards, Food Service, Facility Maintenance, Tour Guides, Office Support, Entrance Booths, Security, Grounds Maintenance, Laundry Worker, Housekeeping, Horticulture, and Wranglers.
Qualifications / Requirements
REQUIREMENTS: One year of experience working in a recreational area, scenic attraction, hospitality, historical, retail, or customer service setting, or related coursework/training."

OTHER: Some positions may also require valid driver's license, ability to obtain a Food Handler's Permit or possession of a valid Lifeguard Certificate or Water Safety Instructors Certificate or ability to obtain such certification. Must be at least 18 years of age for positions that operate various types of powered equipment and machinery.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of: office management, business arithmetic and record keeping; cooking techniques; housekeeping, food service, store keeping, history, animal husbandry, anthropology, wildlife or recreation; basic understanding of swimming pool operations; the history, culture and recreational use of the tourist attraction.

Ability to: swim and pass lifeguard certification requirements; meet and interact effectively with the public; understand and follow instructions; make routine decisions; plan, assign and coordinate the work of others; establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and administrative personnel; read and comprehend menus and recipes; used various cooking techniques; maintain various types of equipment/machinery.
