Duties and Responsibilities:
The Archaeological Field Assistant will assist in the cultural resource reconnaissance surveys conducted on Board of Trustees lands, including background research, preparing for field surveys by assembling the necessary equipment and documentation and cleaning and returning equipment to its proper location and assistance in report writing; assist the Mission San Luis archaeologist in sorting, cataloging, etc.;
Manage the inventory of all equipment and supplies for Public Lands Archaeology; assist in collecting data for damage assessments; manage the database for looting cases and track cases as they move through the legal system;
Performs other related duties as required.
CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECKS: A Level 2 criminal background check is a condition of employment. If selected for this position, you must provide your fingerprints. - A bachelor's degree in archaeology, anthropology, or a closely related field:
- One (1) year of experience working in an archaeology related field.
Preferences:
- Experience with underwater archaeological methods.
