Rincon Consultants, Inc. is seeking a Cultural Resources Field Director in the Los Angeles Area. As a Field Director, under the direction of a Principal Investigator, the successful candidate will be responsible for executing archaeological fieldwork for studies in support of Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) and the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA).

What Do You Get To Do In This Position:
  • Direct the fieldwork component of archaeological projects
  • Mentor Rincon Associate field staff
  • Represent Rincon in the field
  • Interface with clients, tribal consultants, and other contractors
  • Manage post-processing of artifacts, paperwork, etc.
  • Compliance with project conditions such as mitigation monitoring and reporting programs and conditions of approval
  • Working with multidisciplinary teams for successful project execution
  • Contribute to documents for CEQA and NEPA compliance, such as Environmental Impact Reports and Environmental Impact Statements
  • Other duties as required by supervisor(s)


This Job Might Be For You If You Have The Following:
  • B.A., M.A., or Ph.D. degree in anthropology, archaeology, historical archaeology, or related field
  • Minimum of 1 year of field director experience in Cultural Resources Management
  • Register of Professional Archaeologists (RPA) certification preferred
  • Expertise in historic and prehistoric archaeology
  • An understanding of the CEQA, NEPA, and Section 106 of the NHPA
  • Strong fieldwork skills
  • Ability to manage complex and diverse fieldwork
  • Ability to travel
  • Ability to work in extreme environments such as heat, elevation, or heavily wooded areas, etc.
  • Strong work ethic, demonstrated leadership ability, good communication skills, and ability to field direct multiple projects
  • Prior experience in California

Desired:
  • Experience with utility providers, specifically Southern California Edison.
  • Strong preference for BLM qualified Field Director
  • Experience with paleontology
