Introduction
As IBM doubles down its focus on growth, it is critical to foster an entrepreneurial mindset with outside-in thinking and rapid experimentation. IBM has a long history of investing in innovation and, to continue that investment, we are excited to announce the launch of IBM Organic Growth Ventures. The OGV program has been created to give our best ideas a chance to solidify into sound products and business models in search of the next game-changing innovative products. The program will make many small risky bets and use best practices to conduct in-market experiments to quickly amplify those bets that show progress. At the heart of the program is a thoughtful product and business model validation methodology to turn a product idea into a value proposition that customers desire and a business model that can scale. Once that happens the venture will be transitioned into a business unit.

Your Role and Responsibilities
The Organic Growth Ventures team is seeking innovative and enthusiastic design and research professionals to join a team building out multiple projects within an internal incubator program, designed to bring IBM's newest ideas and products to market at scale.

As a researcher for the Organic Ventures Group, you'll be responsible for developing innovative new concepts, working with intrapreneurs, venture executives and a small design team. Your work will include activities like usability assessments, interviews, journey and empathy mapping, design studio sessions, surveys, and data analysis to uncover market and user needs and expectations. The products we support include cloud and automation platforms, open-source software, microservices technology, AI and machine learning, and many others. As a UX researcher and a part of our team, you will work with one or more of these technologies.

Our group is made up of those with years of deep research expertise and brilliant hires using new tools and methodologies. We share our methods and tooling across IBM, and continually teach each other new and best practices. You will join this journey and work alongside many other designers and IBMers to tell the narrative of our company. You understand that the creation and destruction of paper and pixels always centers on one thing - humans. Our purpose is to be essential. Essential to our users. Essential to our colleagues.
You will be uncovering often unarticulated user needs and connecting those to business goals. Your insights will be used across the world by hundreds of thousands to build, deploy, and manage apps used by millions (no pressure!).
You will be identifying and connecting with our target users and becoming their advocate to influence our products to meet their needs.
You will collaborate effectively with product management, engineering, and remote teams. You will demonstrate leadership, technical curiosity, and tenacity. You'll be partnering with some of the leading technologists in the fields of cloud and cognitive computing.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
Demonstrated success relating generative and evaluative research insights to core business goals
At least 5 years of experience conducting research throughout the entire product development lifecycle
Will be able to create a dendrogram on an etch-a-sketch with your eyes closed
Bachelor's degree in Experimental Psychology, Cognitive Science, Human Factors, Human Computer Interaction, Anthropology, Sociology or related discipline

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
Master's degree or doctorate in a related discipline
Experience with cloud computing and/or open-source technology
Experiencing working with enterprise software (agile/continuous delivery desired)
Experience managing projects involving cross-functional teams
