The Associate Director of Global Education in the Office of the Vice Provost for Global Affairs (OVPGA) provides leadership for academic programs across campus to incorporate global learning opportunities-such as virtual exchange, Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL), integration of the study of diplomacy, global experiences or global content-in the on-campus curriculum at UNC-Chapel Hill. The Associate Director partners with and supports UNC-Chapel Hill faculty in the development of globally-oriented and globally-partnered undergraduate and graduate courses or modules, often in collaboration with faculty at global partner universities. The Associate Director of Global Education brings active and inclusive learning methods to classrooms, organizes faculty support programs and learning communities, and has an awareness of global and intercultural learning approaches and tools to advance high-impact experiential learning. The person in this role supports faculty in deepening their global scholarship, research, and teaching.

The Associate Director is responsible for curriculum and faculty support for campus-based global education opportunities supported by the Office of the Vice Provost for Global Affairs (OVPGA). Through these initiatives, the OVPGA organizes and promotes global education across all UNC-Chapel Hill schools and academic departments in the College of Arts & Sciences, including undergraduate and graduate programs. The position promotes and supports virtual exchange activity, such as collaborative online international learning (COIL), and other programming as part of the Connecting Carolina Classrooms with the World initiative. The Associate Director works closely with OVPGA staff, and with UNC faculty, global partner faculty, graduate students, and other campus units.

The Associate Director's work is central to the University's strategic priority to globalize, articulated in the Carolina Next: Innovations for Public Good strategic plan, which positions UNC-Chapel Hill to be the leading global public research university. Specifically, the Associate Director advances progress toward objective 7.2 of Carolina Next, Guarantee that a global education is available to all students though a growing menu of global education opportunities on campus, and Diversify and strengthen global learning across the Carolina curriculum on campus and abroad, including through enhanced support to faculty for developing new, revised, globally partnered and interdisciplinary global resources. The position is critical to achieving the University's goal of offering 40 barrier-free COIL courses per year enrolling some 1,000 Carolina Students.

The Office of the Vice Provost for Global Affairs has primary responsibility for shaping and implementing the University's global strategy while supporting global activity across campus. Units that report to the Vice Provost for Global Affairs include: Global Partnership and Programs, Global Research Institute, International Student and Scholar Services, Development, Duke-UNC Rotary Peace Center and the Unified Business Cluster.
*Educational Requirements:*A master's degree in a related field such as global studies, international affairs, international relations, international education, intercultural communication, cultural studies, anthropology, or education is required; PhD or EdD preferred.
*Qualifications and Experience:*In addition to a graduate degree at the masters or doctoral level, successful candidates will have at least three years of relevant work experience, which may involve teaching, research, program development, program management, academic advising, or other work related to postsecondary international or intercultural education.

Candidates must have exceptional program management and organizational skills, preferably involving diverse faculty and students in a higher education setting. The position requires close attention to detail; excellent communication skills-including interpersonal, cross-cultural, oral, and written communication; sound judgment and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks; the ability to see project activities through from start to finish and adhere to timelines. The Program Manager must be able to work independently and as a part of a high-performing, collaborative team.

Successful candidates will have a strong foundation in the concepts and approaches related to international education, internationalization of the curriculum, internationalization at home, global learning, virtual exchange, curriculum design, and faculty development, and will be eager to acquire greater expertise in this area.

Candidates must possess outstanding computer and technology skills, including all components of the Microsoft Office suite, WordPress, social media, and survey software such as Qualtrics.
