Location of position: 301 Centennial Mall So, Lincoln, NE 68509

Work schedule: M-F; some flexibility between 7:30 am - 5:00 pm

The Nebraska Chronic Disease Prevention & Control Program is seeking a motivated and self-driven professional to provide innovation, leadership, and guidance to organizations and partners in Nebraska striving to prevent and manage chronic diseases and their associated risk factors. This position works as part of a collaborative team to assure effective implementation and evaluation of program activities. This position will serve as the Program Evaluator leading the evaluation of heart disease, stroke, diabetes, physical activity, nutrition, and school health initiatives. Job Duties

1) Based on the guidance and expectations of federal grant funders, design, author, and lead the implementation of annual evaluation plans and evaluation reports designed to assess the quality, effectiveness, and efficiency of program interventions and progress toward program goals, objectives, and performance measures

2) Collaborate with the Program Epidemiologist to assure alignment of the epidemiology/surveillance, performance measures, and evaluation activities

3) Assist in the development and implementation of annual performance measure report and data management plans.

4) Implement mixed-methods evaluations, including designing and conducting focus groups, key informant interviews, surveys, and other methods

5) Analyze quantitative and qualitative data and synthesize results into written and oral reports

6) Design and implement methods to provide timely evaluation information to the program for use in program planning, monitoring, and performance improvement

7) Engage program staff in the evaluation processes to increase their capacity to conduct and/or assist with evaluation efforts and utilize evaluation findings

8) Determine the evaluation needs for program subrecipients and contractors and work with program staff to track the reach, impact, outcomes and other evaluation measures

9) Develop reports, summaries, and infographics in a variety of formats to facilitate comprehension of evaluation procedures and results for internal and external audiences

10) Utilize evaluation findings to identify opportunities for program improvement, intervention gaps, and geographic areas or populations disproportionately affected by chronic diseases

11) Assist in the development of annual grant applications, budgets, work plans, and annual progress reports

12) Plan and facilitate meetings for small and large groups

13) Assist in the development, implementation, and monitoring of contracts/subawards to assure adherence to federal and state regulations

Qualifications / Requirements :

REQUIREMENTS: The most competitive candidate will have a master's degree in social or health sciences (i.e. public health, public affairs, public administration, anthropology, sociology, or a closely related public health field) and a minimum of 1 years' experience in applied evaluation. Familiarity/experience with evaluation and data collection techniques needed. The ability to organize large amounts of information; experience in quantitative and qualitative data analysis and report writing skills; high-level organization skills; problem solving skills; excellent written and verbal communication skills; and ability to multi-task are necessary.

Knowledge of the principles and practices of public health planning, implementation, and evaluation; the principles of grant writing, reporting, and grant administration; ability to maintain accurate and thorough records; designing and conducting focus groups, key informant interviews, surveys; design educational and informational materials, training aids, and presentations; prepare grant proposals; plan and lead meetings; interpret and apply federal grant requirements, agency rules, policies and procedures; communicate effectively; prioritize and manage time; problem solve and make decisions; balance needs, requirements, and work load for multiple projects; self-motivated and work independently with minimal supervision. #cb
