The Department of Music at Yale University is looking to hire an Assistant Professor with an initial five-year appointment beginning July 1, 2022. This scholar may specialize in any culture or repertoire beyond the sphere of Western culture and have trained in any relevant discipline including (but not necessarily limited to) ethnomusicology, cultural anthropology, music history, music theory, or cultural studies. The teaching expectation is normally four courses per academic year, plus service to the program (including membership on administrative and academic committees) and providing advising and mentorship to graduate and undergraduate students. The ideal candidate will primarily teach courses grounded in their cultural/geographic specialization(s), but candidates who can work beyond that field are encouraged to apply.

The appointee must hold a Ph.D. or equivalent degree or have completed all requirements for the Ph.D. by June 2022.

Applicants should submit an application via [apply.interfolio.com/92772](https://apply.interfolio.com/92772). They should submit a cover letter, CV, teaching statement, writing sample, and arrange to upload three letters of recommendation through Interfolio.

Review of applications will begin October 1 and will continue until the position is filled. We will be unable to give updates about the timetable or progress of the search until it has been completed. For other questions regarding the search, the position, or the department, please email [jennifer.gambaccini-denillo@yale.edu](mailto:jennifer.gambaccini-denillo@yale.edu) (administrative assistant to the search), [michael.veal@yale.edu](mailto:michael.veal@yale.edu) (search committee chair), or [ian.quinn@yale.edu](mailto:ian.quinn@yale.edu) (department chair).
