EcoPlan Associates, Inc., (EcoPlan) an environmental consulting firm, is seeking qualified archaeological field technicians to join our team of experienced and motivated professionals on projects in Arizona and Utah. Some upcoming projects include archaeological testing on the Navajo Nation in Arizona, survey and monitoring projects in the Phoenix area, and survey projects in Fish Lake and Manti-La Sal national forests in Utah. These are part-time or as needed positions (particulars may be negotiated). Compensation is commensurate with capabilities and experience. Positions pay $16-$20/hour if preferred qualifications are met. Lodging and Per Diem will be paid.

The positions require the regular use of Trimble GPS, transit/total stations, and office-based data processing. Flexibility and willingness to travel, and travel frequently is expected. The positions also require the ability to work outdoors in various types of weather. Sufficient physical endurance to conduct archaeological field investigations in remote and challenging environments, and the ability to carry equipment (shovel, screen, GPS unit, cameras) while conducting fieldwork is mandatory. This includes maintenance and responsible use of all EcoPlan-owned and rented equipment. The positions require the ability to process field data in accordance with EcoPlan standards. Job Requirements:

Requirements include:
  • Undergraduate degree specializing in archaeology, anthropology, or a closely related field;
  • Archaeological experience in the Southwest;
  • Must be able to walk up to 12 miles per day in difficult terrain and extreme weather while carrying a 20-pound pack;
  • An understanding of the NHPA and NRHP-eligibility;
  • Ability to read and understand maps and prepare field records and drawings
  • Minimum field experience of six months;
  • Willingness to travel;
  • Have and maintain a valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation;
  • GIS and site form preparation experience.
