Responsibilities

As a Workplace Research Strategist with Hines, you will have a broad focus of workplace research and strategy, while extending to connect the dots with operations, security and culinary, as well as other cross functional entities within the broader FB organization. Core themes of applied research include workplace design, future of work, employee experience, culture, productivity, collaboration, focus work and diversity & inclusion, while broader research themes include attraction & retention, engagement, health & well-being, sustainability and technology. All of these are applied to ongoing pilots, programs and cross functional initiatives. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting and translating research into actionable workplace strategies, running pilots and special programs that relate to overall top interests of FCS leadership. The candidate will also build relationships within the broader organization, as well as with other external partners and entities. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Program manage cross functional initiatives, involving several constituencies from various internal groups on special programs, pilots and new initiatives
  • Suggest strategic directions for pilots and ongoing new initiatives based on research evidence (i.e. apply research findings / put research findings into practice)
  • Design, run and report out on focus groups, exploring various topics that relate to current and future programs and pilots
  • Summarize complex and broad ideas in visually compelling and concise ways that are presentable for leadership
  • Oversee research projects; conduct research and/or manage vendors, consultants engaging in research and exploration
  • Participate in cross functional workstreams, representing workplace research
  • Monitor industry events, attend conferences, webinars and connect with peers, experts and professionals in both the industry and academia
  • Network and build relationships, exploring and broadening our research focus, that ultimately connects to the future of work and workplace
  • Distill learnings in a thoughtful and concise manner and disseminate relevant knowledge via effective communication vehicles
  • Explore new ways of connecting the dots among various functions of FCS (such as organizing knowledge-sharing summits, workshops or think tanks)
  • Conduct benchmarking studies, comparative analyses and site visits to better understand current competitive landscape of industry
  • Conduct secondary research, meta-analyses and data analyses (both quantitative and qualitative)
  • Lead or participate in field research projects, involving project management, communication, data collection, data analysis and reporting
  • Strategically collaborate and work with leadership to ensure that the overall research direction is followed


Qualifications

Minimum Requirements include:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Anthropology, Psychology, Behavioral Sciences or related fields from an accredited institution
  • Fifteen or more years of experience in Architecture & Design, Corporate Real Estate and/or Workplace Services (client focused or client side)
  • Experience in consulting / strategy / research is a must
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team effectively and in a detailed manner
  • Ability to deliver results in a fast-paced environment with often-changing priorities
  • Ability to take initiative and direction without much hands-on management
  • Maintain positive internal and external relationships
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, including active listening and the ability to convey complex thoughts via visuals and concise narratives
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills
  • Excellent presentation skills, translating large amount of information in a concise way to arrive at key points and takeaways
  • Organized, precise and analytical, while able to think outside the box and connect the dots
  • Comfortable working in a team-based shared cloud environment (such as Dropbox or Google Drive)
  • Strong skills in MS Office Suite, including PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint
  • Graphic design and/or web design skills is a plus
