Job Description:

Archival Research Assistant needed to assist Longwood University's Bicentennial Initiative. The Bicentennial Initiative is charged with recovering underrepresented stories of the campus community and reckoning with the university's past. Responsibilities will include researching relevant collections at the University of Virginia, Library of Virginia, and Longwood University, identifying and documenting materials relevant to the mission of the initiative.

Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree required, M.A. in history or related filed preferred. Archival research experience in historical collections required. Preference given to applicants with experience in 19th and 20th century Virginia history or the history of higher education. Strong written and oral communication skills required. Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Additional Information:

This is a part-time, non-exempt, temporary wage position limited to an average of 29 hours per week and 1500 hours maximum per work year. The salary is $18.00 per hour, plus reimbursement of out-of-town mileage for research travel. Initial length of employment is anticipated through June 2022.
